Riyuewan Bay Surfing Beach in Wanning Hainan Island, the best beach for surfing in China
Location of Riyue Bay Beach:
Riyue Bay Beach or Riyuewan in China is located near Xinglong Town, Wanning City Hainan Island along the east coast of Hainan Island, 110 KM away from Sanya in the southern part and and 170 KM from Haikou in the northern part of Hainan Island.
What to do at Riyue Bay:
With its strong waves, Riyue Bay is the best beach in Hainan for surfing especially in Winter Time (November till March). So for surfing in China during Winter time, Hainan is one of the few choices on Hainan Island for great surfing.
Riyue Bay Wanning is also the host for a few international surfing competitions.
Transportation Guide to Riyuebay, How to reach Riyue Bay from Haikou & Sanya
Riyuebay is located between Haikou & Sanya Hainan Island, so to reach Riyuebay, you can book flight into Haikou Meilan Airport in the north or Sanya Phoenix International Airport in the south.
Taxi from Haikou & Sanya Airort:
There are several ways to reach Riyue bay beach from Haikou & Sanya Airport by High speed train, local taxi or private transfers. A local taxi to Riyue Bay from Sanya Airport costs about 500CNY/way, and take 1.25 hours. From Haikou, it should cost about 600CNY/way, and take 1.5 hours.
Private Transfer Service to Riyuebay from Sanya & Haikou Airport:
As a local taxi has limited luggage space, it can’t carry your surfing boards on the top. So we would recommend our private transfer service with enough space for your surfing board at CNY700/car (max. 2 passengers) by private car or CNY900/van (max. 5 passengers) from Sanya Downtown or Sanya Airport.
From Haikou Airport or Haikou Downtown, a private car will cost CNY800/car (max. 2 passengers) or CNY1000/van (max. 5 passengers).

High Speed Train from Haikou & Sanya Airport to Riyuebay:
It is also easy to reach Riyuebay Surfing Beach by high speed train from Sanya Airport, Sanya Downtown, Haikou Airport or Haikou Town Area. The closest train station is Shenzhou, and it takes about 40 minutes or 50 minutes from Haikou Airport. But Shenzhou Station is a very small one with limited trains, so the next option is Wanning Station, and then by local taxi to Riyuebay beach.

Hotel to stay on Rieyue bay Surfing Beach Wanning Hainan Island:
Another choice is the Found Hotel Tsingpu: a super new one with big rooms and spacious balcony, a lot more expensive than the Forest Inn Hotel Riyuebay.
The above is the artificial islet about 500 meters away from the riyuebay beach. There are lots of ocean view apartments for rent from 1 bedroom to 3 bedrooms at reasonable prices.
