Traditionally, Xincun Port serves as a fishing port in Lingshui and is home to over 600 red-roofed houses inhabited by the Dan Jia People, also known as the Chinese “gypsies of the sea.” Although not classified as an ethnic minority in Hainan, the Dan Jia People belong to the Han nationality, with their roots tracing back to the Qin Dynasty (15-18 centuries).
