Two major museums, the Sanya City Museum and the Sanya Future Science and Technology Museum, have been on the agenda of officials in this popular tropical seaside tourist city, according to reports.
The Sanya Future Science and Technology Museum project was launched at the 2019 Hainan Space Science and Technology Innovation and Commercial Aerospace Industry Collaborative Development Seminar on February 25th, 2019.
The project will be located in the Zhongke Remote Sensing Industrial Park in Sanya’s Tianya District. Total investment is expected to reach RMB 300 million. Covering an area of approximately 31,631 square meters, the museum will serve multiple functions including tourism, science and education, academic exchanges, and value-added industry.

After completion, the Space Experience Hall and the reception center will require a large number of service staff and management personnel, which will create more than 600 jobs.
An expert delegation from the Hubei Provincial Museum visited Sanya on March 10th, 2019. Mr. Tong Daochi, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Sanya Municipal Committee, welcomed the delegation and carried out in-dept exchange on building the Sanya City Museum.
Mr. Tong said that Sanya boasts an abundant cultural heritage with thousands of years of history. The tropical coastal tourist city is also an important strategic pivot point on the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. The Sanya City Museum is of great significance with respect to efforts to fully tap Hainan’s history and culture, and to promote Hainan’s history and culture. The museum will make a meaningful contribution to efforts to enrich the cultural significance of the Hainan Free Trade Pilot Zone.
Mr. Tong said that through cooperation with the Hubei Provincial Museum, the Sanya City Museum will serve as an important window that showcases the splendid culture of China, and a new highlight of Sanya’s cultural tourism industry.
