From Jan. 6 till 12, 2020,  about 144 boys and 84 girls including 8 surfers from China will be competing at WSL World Surf League-All Men’s & Women’s Qualifying Series China Pro in Wanning China, which is part of Tokyo Qualification.

Flights to Hainan Island China:

There are 2 International airports in Hainan, Haikou in the North and Sanya in the south. As Riyuebay Wanning is located right in between the 2 airports, so either airport will do.

There are direct flights from London to Sanya ( Thursday & Sunday) & Australian to Haikou.  From Southeast Asian countries, it is easy to travel by direct flights from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur,  Manila, Seoul, Bangkok, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Macau & Taiwan.

If you can’t get direct international flights into Haikou or Sanya Airport, a good transit airport is Hong Kong with 2 flights daily to Sanya and 3 flights daily to Haikou.

Travel from Haikou to Riyuebay Wanning by high-speed train:

There is a high-speed train station both Haikou Meilan Airport, so it would be easy to book a train ticket from Haikou Meilan Airport to Wanning.

A train ride from Haikou Meilan Airport to Wanning Train station takes about 50 minutes. There are trains from early morning 7:32 till 21:52 to Wanning Train Station from Haikou Meilan Airport at around every half an hour. Wanning Train Station is about 30 KM from Riyuebay Surfing Club. Shenzhou Station is another train station in Wanning, which is 16 KM from Riyuebay Surfing Club, but only 4 trains daily at 09:06, 10:31, 11:14, 11:36 and 16:01.

Travel to Riyuebay Wanning by Private van from Haikou Airport: 

If you can’t find a right train ride from Haikou Airport to Wanning, or you can’t take a train with you, surfing boards, then a private pick up service from Haikou Airport to your hotel in Wanning will be an ideal choice. With your surfboard, a private van will be the best option at USD150/way ( flight arrives between 8am and 6 pm) and USD175/way (after 6 pm before 8am) by this kind of van, good for 5 passengers with normal luggage and surfboard.

Meilan Airport International Terminal is about 500 meters away from Haikou Meilan train station, and only less than 200 meters from Haikou Meilan International Terminal. So if you have international arrival time, you should have at least 1 hour & 30 minutes to collect your luggage, reach the train station and check-in. From the Domestic terminal, you might spend 1 hour to collect luggage and reach the check-in counter.

Travel from Sanya to Riyuebay Wanning by high-speed train:

There is a high-speed train station at Sanya Airport, so it would be easy to book a train ticket from Sanya Airport to Wanning train station and Shenzhou Station.

A train ride from Sanya Airport to Wanning Train station takes about 40 minutes. There are trains from early morning 8:32 till 22:01 to Wanning Train Station from Sanya Airport at intervals of around an hour and a half.

Wanning Train Station is about 30 KM from Riyuebay Surfing Club, the hosting beach for WSL World Surf League-All Men’s & Women’s Qualifying Series China Pro. Shenzhou Station is another train station in Wanning, which is 16 KM from Riyuebay Surfing Club, but only 2 trains daily at 08:30 & 17：15.

Sanya Airport International Terminal & Domestic Terminal is about 200 meters away from Sanya Airport Train Station, so you might spend 1 hour to collect luggage and reach the check-in counter.

Travel to Riyuebay Wanning by Private van from Sanya Airport:

If you can’t find the right train ride from Sanya Airport to Wanning, or you can’t take a train with you, surfing boards, then a private pick up service from Sanya Airport to your hotel in Wanning will be an ideal choice. Forest Inn Riyuebay is the biggest hotel within walking distance from the surfing beach.  The hotel is a local 3-star hotel right on Riyuebay Surfing Beach, renovated in 2014, with free Wi-fi, international breakfast and western toilet. Please note that most staff don’t speak English there.
